The explosive fourth instalment in the DCI Jones Casebook series of crime thrillers—this is CRYER’S VIEW.
For more than five years police operations in the southeast of England have been failing. Chief Superintendent Knightly, a senior member of the National Crime Agency, suspects that someone is selling police intelligence. When one of his junior officers dies before he can attend clandestine meeting with him, Knightly is certain—there’s a dirty cop inside his organisation.
Unable to trust anyone under his command, Knightly turns to an old friend for help—Detective Chief Inspector David Jones.
When Detective Sergeant Phil Cryer, answers his doorbell to find CS Knightly and DCI Jones on his doorstep, he knows things are about to get interesting—and dangerous.
Phil Cryer, on sick leave after suffering an injury in the line of duty, soon finds himself deep undercover inside the NCA hunting the dirty cop, codename Alpine. He faces his most difficult and dangerous assignment.
Alone, injured, and armed only with his phenomenal memory, Phil must identify the rogue cop before he escapes … or kills again.

The DCI Jones Casebook Cryer View edition by Kerry J Donovan Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
This time we mostly follow Cryer and his eidetic memory on a tense undercover mission to find a crooked cop in a high-tech environment. There's still lots of action and story kept me guessing as to the identity of mastermind 'Alpine' and I was cheering Cryer on as he faced increasingly tough challenges. Great to see Jones feature in the latter stages of the story too and a top climax, very satisfying. If you're a new reader to the series then you could safely start here but for fans of the series you'll get even more enjoyment from the story :)
Looking forward to the next one!

The DCI Jones Casebook Cryer View edition by Kerry J Donovan Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This was the first book I read by the author and I will be reading more if this one was any indication of Donovan's writing. I thought the story moved at a nice pace with very little filler, and it kept me turning pages to see what was going to happen next. It was interesting to see how the main character's (Cryer) "gift" helped in solving some open cases. I thought the characterizations were nicely portrayed and brought "life" to the supporting characters in the book. The interaction in the office was interesting and,as it turned out, important in identifying the potential culprit(s) .
The "whodunit" was a bit of a surprise to me, as the author kept me guessing until the final chapters, where everything was nicely wrapped up.
I was hoping this was the first in a series, but I saw this was the 4th book in the DCI Jones series, so I plan to go back to the others in order to catch whatever development I missed. It came across to me as a very good stand alone novel.
I believe it would appeal to many mystery, thriller, police/detective procedurals readers. Give it a try.
I love these books!!!
Good series. Look forward to more books featuring DCI Jones.
This was a really good book! I didn't figure it out until the end, and I usually can.
This book was amazing. I love the DCI Jones stories and getting to catch up with DS Cryer in this one was wonderful. The book is a page turner. Definitely one of those, 'Just one more page..' situations and then an hour later you're still reading.
Two thumbs up!
I’m a big fan of Kerry Donovan, who matures as a writer with every book, and now works in a range of genres Note his experimental The Transition of Johnny Swift, and his American small town debut On Lucky Shores. In Cryer’s View, we see a strengthening of Donovan’s skill in building complex characters, so that what is at face value a police procedural is a more profound piece of work.
I have read all the DCI Jones books and really wish Kerry Donovan would write more of them because I have become very attached to him and his team. I read all four books, one after the other, finishing with Cryer's View, and enjoyed every page. Lots of action and suspense, tight plots and great banter between the characters who are all too human and wonderfully flawed. I wanted to join David Jones and his team at the pub for what I am sure would have been a memorable evening!
